CORRUPTION

Dialy we see, hear or read topics about corruption, but do we really know what   corruption means?. We can say “ corruption is the abuse of power and public funds used for personal gain”, next,  this essay will  briefly explain, how corruption affects us, what should we try to do to help our country  combat this big social phenomenon that hurts all nations in the world. Many factors influence  a country to become corrupt, some of the main causes are the followings:

  • -       Political leaders lack strong moral and ethical principles and values .
  • -       Little or none control of the use of public funds.
  • -        Low salaries.
  • -       Society does not denounce corrupt acts and accept them as a normal activity.

In the country the corruption bring negative effects in different areas such as: political, economic and social areas.
This effects make that the people do not trust in the country, make the country does not succeed, stay stuck hopelessly growth. In the main effects we can say:
-       Corruption difficults and blocks the economic, political, and social growth and development of every nation.
-       Generates distrust of central political leaders of a country Makes a country poor and unstable.
But, what should the world do to help  nations  control this serious  issue?  is a very difficult answer, because the corruption is very hard to erradicate, and the most people have accepted it as a normal activity without taking into consideration the damage that corruption causes, making it harder to remove.

There are many options that we can apply to fight corruption for example we can do is request to the participation of society and the government´s help, that punish anyone official who is involved in corruption acts.
Another solution could  be to choose our leaders adequately to investigate them, know a little about their life  so we can choose who we believe has strong values and principles such us integrity, honesty, respect  and responsability thanks to this we know the candidate is not falling prey to corruption. Knowing the reality and background of the candidate will help us choose the right person, based on who he is and not just choose because of their promises.
Governors must be accountable for all theirs actions at all levels, and give the citizens the information they require without any restrictions or lies.
Naturally governments are elected to represent citizens and to ensure the development and growth of the country. They must be the first to act ethically so they can be examples to  public officials .

We think that corruption is a very difficult and dangerous problem, and it can destroy any nation in some cases, taking it to  extreme poverty. Corruption comes, grows and becomes a normal practice if it is not stopped at the  correct time,  we must fight against it together. If we want a better place to live, and  we must always remember that in being together lies our strength,  and so only educating  society the country will advance and grow.
